EcoShrink delivered a discreet overnight shrink wrap installation at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter. Specialist black shrink wrap was used to conceal a temporary scaffold structure near the retail exit, so essential works could continue without breaking the immersive experience for daytime visitors.

Summary (At a Glance)
🏛️ Client/site: Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter
📍 Location: Leavesden, near Watford, Hertfordshire
🧙♂️ Environment: High-footfall themed attraction and retail zone
🎯 Objective: Hide temporary scaffold and works from visitors; preserve guest experience 🛡️ System: Specialist black, flame-retardant shrink wrap to fully conceal internal scaffold
Project overview
The Warner Bros. Studio Tour is a world-famous attraction where guests come to step inside original Harry Potter sets and props. Any visual intrusion near key guest touchpoints – especially the end-of-tour retail area – risks breaking the spell. A temporary scaffold was needed close to the shop exit.
EcoShrink was commissioned to provide an “invisible” scaffold wrapping solution that would mask the structure completely, protect the works, and leave no trace by the time the first visitors arrived each morning.
Challenges on site
Immersive experience at risk: the scaffold sat in a high-sensitivity zone where every detail is carefully themed
Retail interface: the area is commercially important, so the finish had to look deliberate, not like temporary site works
No disruption to guests: all works – including clean-up – had to be completed overnight
Tight access and time window: limited space to work around the scaffold with a single night shift to get it right first time
Our specialist shrink wrap solution
EcoShrink designed a custom black shrink wrap installation focused on three things: invisibility, safety and speed.
Custom black, low-reflective wrap
Selected specialist black shrink wrap with a matte, light-absorbing finish so the scaffold visually receded into the background
Avoided the bright, reflective look of standard white wraps that would draw the eye under indoor lighting
Cut and heat-welded the wrap on site for a tailored, drum-tight fit around the scaffold frame
Night-time installation and handover
All work carried out outside visitor hours, during a single night shift
Wrapped, heat-shrunk and finished the scaffold, then carried out a full clean-up and visual check before doors opened
Coordinated with the studio operations team so access routes, safety lines and housekeeping standards were all maintained
Safe, durable public-space solution
Used flame-retardant, high-performance shrink wrap suitable for use in busy public environments
Heat-welded joints and sealed edges to remove loose flaps and fixings that could catch the eye or pose a snag risk
Delivered a clean, uniform surface that read as part of the environment rather than a temporary work area
Results
The wrapped scaffold became practically invisible to daytime visitors – the structure visually receded and did not distract from the sets or retail area
Temporary works continued safely behind the wrap with no disruption to the studio tour schedule
The immersive, “nothing out of place” feel around the exit shop was maintained, protecting both guest experience and retail performance
The project proved how custom-colour, experience-led shrink wrap can support film studios, themed attractions and branded spaces where presentation is critical
FAQ
Why was custom black shrink wrap used instead of standard white?
Standard white shrink wrap can stand out and reflect indoor lighting. At the Studio Tour, the goal was to make the scaffold “disappear”. Matte black wrap absorbs light and visually recedes into the background, helping the structure go unnoticed by guests.
How did you avoid disrupting the Studio Tour?
All work was carried out overnight, outside visitor hours. The team wrapped, heatshrunk and detailed the scaffold in a single night shift, followed by a full clean-up and checks before the first guests arrived, meaning no change to the daytime visitor experience.
Is the shrink wrap safe to use in busy public environments?
Yes. EcoShrink used flame-retardant, high-performance shrink wrap designed for public-space use, with tight welds and sealed edges to avoid loose material or snag points. The system provides both visual masking and a neat, safe finish compatible with the venue’s safety requirements.
