Why BioShrink is different
BioShrink is designed for contractors who need construction-grade protection today and credible end-of-life options tomorrow. It installs with the same tools and techniques as standard LDPE wrap, but adds a carefully engineered biodegradation pathway under specific test conditions.

How BioShrink breaks down under test conditions
BioShrink uses an additive system that attracts microbes and supports biofilm formation on the film surface under specific test conditions. Over time, enzymes and microbial activity reduce the polymer chain length so that microbes can digest the material and convert it to CO₂, CH₄ and biomass in those controlled environments.
How it Works: microbes attach → biofilm forms → polymer chains become digestible; outputs CO₂ / CH₄ / biomass under the test conditions.
" Current testing includes methods such as ASTM D5511 and ISO 15985 for anaerobic digestion. Results are supporting lab data, not certifications, and are always reported with method details and limits. "
Products & specs
Choose the BioShrink grade that matches your application. Both grades share the same biodegradation additive platform; thickness and roll formats are tuned for scaffold vs modular work.

Where BioShrink is designed to fit
BioShrink is being developed for the same tough environments as conventional construction wrap —just with a more credible end-of-life roadmap.

Evidence & standards (what we know so far)
We take claims discipline seriously. BioShrink is being developed with a clear test roadmap, conservative wording, and independent lab data.
-
Lab test results (what happened in a given method under specific conditions)
-
Standards under test (e.g. ASTM D5511, ISO 15985)
-
Future certifications (which will only be mentioned when certificate IDs are available)
Anaerobic digestion tests (ASTM D5511 / ISO 15985)
-
Independent lab work (e.g. Intertek, Eden Research) on additive-treated films
-
Evidence of microbial colonisation and biogas generation under defined highsolids, anaerobic test conditions
-
Results reported as supporting data, with test conditions, durations and controls
Long-term biodegradation updates (Eden Research)
-
Long-term ASTM D5511 work on PE shrink films and tape with the additive
-
Lab updates include curves and “adjusted % biodegraded” values
-
Note: adjusted percentages are informational only and are not part of the standard test method; we always present them as such.
Additional supporting tests
-
Marine test work on other polymers (e.g. nylon/PET under ASTM D6691) used as background only; not directly applicable to LDPE
-
Plant toxicity testing (e.g. ASTM E1963) indicating no inhibitory effect in tested contexts
-
All such data treated as supporting information, not as product certifications

Full test summaries, caveats and lab notes are available in our Testing summaries pack on the Downloads section below. Nothing on this page should be read as a certification claim.
