BIOSHRINK at a glance

LDPE-based: compatible with recycling streams

Fire rated: EN 13501-1 Class B-s1,d0

UV life: 12 months+ (under typical exposure)

Installer-tested on scaffold and modular projects

Evidence-led claims (lab data, standards named)

Why BIOSHRINK is different

BIOSHRINK is designed for contractors who need construction-grade protection today and a credible end-of-life roadmap tomorrow. It installs with the same tools and techniques as standard LDPE wrap, but adds a carefully engineered biodegradation pathway supported by independent lab data under defined test conditions.

Fire-safe design

  • EN 13501-1 Class B-s1,d0

  • Conventional flame-retardant design principles; no shortcuts on safety

  • Independently tested and certified by SGS

Industrial strength

  • FR300: 300 micron flame-retardant film for scaffold and façade wraps

  • MOD250: 250 micron film for modular transport and storage

  • LDPE-based with flame-retardant, UV-stabiliser and biodegradation additive

Same tools, same technique

  • Installs with standard scaffold shrink-wrap equipment

  • Compatible with EcoShrink training and existing methods

  • No specialist equipment or additional training required

Verified claims roadmap

  • ASTM D5511 and ISO 15985

  • Independent labs (Intertek and Eden Research) reporting microbial colonisation and biogas generation under anaerobic test conditions

  • Clear separation between lab data and future certifications

How BIOSHRINK breaks down under test conditions

BIOSHRINK uses an additive system that attracts microbes and supports biofilm formation on the film surface under specific test conditions. Over time, enzymes and microbial activity reduce the polymer chain length so that microbes can digest the material, converting it to CO₂, CH₄ and biomass in those controlled environments.

* Current testing includes ASTM D5511 and ISO 15985 for anaerobic digestion.

Products & specs

Choose the BIOSHRINK grade that matches your application. Both grades share the same biodegradation additive platform; thickness and roll formats are tuned for scaffold, marine & modular applications.

Evidence & standards

We take claims discipline seriously. BIOSHRINK is backed by a clear test roadmap, conservative wording, and independent lab data.

Anaerobic digestion tests (ASTM D5511 / ISO 15985)

  • Independent lab work (e.g. Intertek, Eden Research) on additive-treated films

  • Evidence of microbial colonisation and biogas generation under defined high-solids, anaerobic test conditions

  • Results reported as supporting data, with test conditions, durations and controls

BIOSHRINK FAQs

Where BIOSHRINK Fits

BIOSHRINK is engineered for the same demanding applications as conventional construction shrink wrap. The difference is what happens at end-of-life — and the evidence behind it.

BIOSHRINK for Scaffold Encapsulation

FR300 delivers a drum-tight, EN 13501-1 Class B-s1,d0 certified skin for façades, roofs and full elevations. Same install method as conventional wrap, with a credible end-of-life roadmap.

BIOSHRINK for Modular Building Covers

MOD250 provides UV-stable, weather-tight protection for volumetric modules, bathroom pods, plant rooms and MEP skids in transport and storage. Sized to your modules, sealed for the journey.
