Shrink wrap is essential for weather protection, containment and dust control on UK sites - but the temporary protection conversation is changing. Contractors, developers and procurement teams want clearer evidence about what they bring to site, what happens to it afterwards, and what the supplier is actually claiming.

EcoShrink's response is BIOSHRINK, our biodegradable and fully recyclable construction-grade shrink wrap. BIOSHRINK doesn't replace good site practice, it sits alongside it. It gives project teams a more responsible material route, supported by an evidence pack rather than vague green language.

BIOSHRINK is biodegradable and remains fully recyclable in the UK - so the question isn't biodegradable versus recyclable. When shrink wrap is the right approach for a project, BIOSHRINK is the film we use, specified to the application with the evidence to back it up. And if shrink wrap isn't the right call for a particular job, we'll tell you honestly.

Quick Guide

Quick guide - sustainable temporary protection on UK sites

  • BIOSHRINK: Our biodegradable and fully recyclable construction-grade shrink wrap, used across all EcoShrink work. Available in FR (fire-retardant) grades for scaffold, modular, containment and weather protection. Anaerobic test conditions are documented in the BIOSHRINK Evidence Pack.

  • Specification: Match the right BIOSHRINK grade, fixings and installation method to the application, exposure, fire requirement and programme.

  • End-of-use: Recycle first where local infrastructure accepts LDPE; segregate from rubble, timber and mixed waste. Where recycling isn't realistic, biodegradation provides the end-of-life safety net, and Energy-from-Waste can be used where permitted.

  • Avoid: "compostable", "plastic-free" or "zero-waste" framing in client-facing documents.
