Summary (At a Glance)
🏨 Client/site: Four Seasons Hotel London at Ten Trinity Square
📍 Location: City of London (Grade II* listed building)
🎯 Objective: Hide temporary scaffold and works in a central atrium space
🔥 System: Premium white, flame-retardant internal shrink wrap
✨ Outcome: Temporary works concealed; guest experience and presentation maintained
Project overview
The Four Seasons Hotel London at Ten Trinity Square is a five-star hotel in a Grade II* listed former Port of London Authority building. Guests expect immaculate surroundings from the entrance lobby through to the private club and suites. When temporary works were required in one of the hotel’s central atrium areas, any visible scaffold or sheeting risked undermining that experience. EcoShrink was appointed to design and install a specialist internal shrink wrap solution that would fully enclose the works, blend with the interior and keep guests unaware that construction was taking place.
Challenges on site
High-end, guest-sensitive environment where appearance is critical at all times
Temporary scaffold in a tall, ornate atrium space with complex geometry
Need for full visual concealment – no obvious signs of work in progress
Flame-retardant materials required for indoor use in an occupied public building
Non-disruptive installation needed to avoid impact on hotel operations and guests
Our specialist internal shrink wrap solution
EcoShrink designed a containment and presentation solution that worked with the architecture rather than against it.
Premium white internal wrap
Selected premium white flame-retardant shrink wrap suitable for indoor, publicspace use
Chosen with a low-sheen, matte finish to avoid glare under chandeliers and soft ambient lighting
Applied to the full height and width of the access scaffold, creating a smooth, continuous surface that read more like a temporary wall than site sheeting
Flawless, sculpted finish
Used custom cutting and heat-welded seams to follow the scaffold line closely and remove sagging or creases
Sealed all edges and corners to eliminate loose material that could catch the eye or look untidy
Delivered a “sculpted” finish that blended with the classical décor rather than fighting it
Quiet, coordinated installation
Planned the installation around the hotel’s schedule to minimise time on site and avoid peak guest movements
Worked discreetly with a small, experienced team used to operating in high-end environments
Left the area clean and presentable at handover, with no visible sign of construction activity beyond the wrapped surface
Results
The temporary works were fully concealed, preserving the hotel’s luxury look and feel throughout the programme
Flame-retardant shrink wrap provided a safe, compliant internal barrier suitable for an occupied five-star hotel
The wrap helped contain dust and debris within the work zone, reducing cleaning and protecting adjacent finishes
Guest perception and brand standards were maintained – the works happened quietly in the background, with no obvious impact on the space
The project demonstrated how specialist internal shrink wrap can support hotels, clubs and high-end venues where temporary works must remain invisible.
FAQ
Why was shrink wrap chosen instead of standard internal hoarding?
Shrink wrap gave the hotel a smooth, continuous surface that could be custom-fitted to the scaffold and detailed to match the space. Unlike modular hoarding, it could follow the full height of the atrium structure tightly, with fewer joints and no visible gaps, helping the works blend into the background.
Is the internal shrink wrap safe for use in an occupied five-star hotel?
Yes. EcoShrink used flame-retardant shrink wrap suitable for indoor use in public buildings, combined with careful detailing and fixing. The system provided a sealed barrier for dust and debris while meeting the fire-safety expectations of a luxury, Grade II* listed hotel.
Did the installation disrupt hotel guests or operations?
Installation was planned around hotel schedules and carried out by a small, experienced team used to working in premium environments. By coordinating access and working discreetly, EcoShrink was able to complete the wrap with minimal on-site time and no noticeable disruption to guests.
