EcoShrink installed shrink wrap construction screens for Premier Marinas at their busy factory in Portsmouth, Hampshire. Internal screens were used to isolate blasting and painting operations from the rest of the facility, helping control dust, overspray and debris while keeping other work areas cleaner and safer.

Project Overview

Premier Marinas operates a busy factory in Portsmouth where blasting, painting and other tasks happen in close proximity. They needed a way to separate blasting and painting from the rest of the facility so dust, overspray and debris did not reach clean work areas.

EcoShrink was engaged to install shrink wrap construction screens, creating a secure barrier along one side of the building so the blasting and painting bay could be isolated while other operations continued.

Challenges on site

Blasting and painting taking place close to other factory activities. Need to stop dust, paint overspray and debris reaching the clean side of the facility. Tight internal factory spaces made access and positioning more complex Scissor lifts required to reach and fix to the steel frame of the building. Requirement to install screens while keeping the factory operational and safe.

Our solution

EcoShrink designed and installed internal shrink wrap construction screens tailored to the factory layout and live working environment.

Scope & planning: Reviewed the layout of the factory, identifying the blasting/painting zone and clean work areas. Planned fixing points on the steel frame to support continuous screens without obstructing routes Agreed access arrangements for scissor lifts in tight internal spaces so normal operations could continue safely.

Screen installation: Installed shrink wrap to fully enclose one side of the building, forming a continuous barrier between the blasting/painting area and the rest of the factory Used scissor lifts to carefully position and tension the film, attaching it securely to the steel frame Took extra time to identify and prepare secure anchoring points so the screens would remain tight and stable during ongoing operations.

Live-site working: Delivered the works in phases so Premier Marinas could keep the factory operating while screens were installed Managed access and equipment movements to minimise disruption and maintain safe clearances around blasting and painting activities This approach created robust, internal construction screens that separated high-risk activities from the rest of the facility without stopping day-to-day work.

Results

Blasting and painting area successfully isolated from the rest of the factory Dust, paint overspray and debris significantly reduced in clean work zones, improving conditions for other activities. Secure attachment to the steel frame delivered a durable, long-lasting internal barrier. Screens were installed within the required timeframe while the factory stayed operational. Premier Marinas reported a cleaner, safer environment and were satisfied with both the solution and the installation process.

Client feedback

The shrink wrap solution provided by the team was exactly what we needed for our factory at Portsmouth. The secure barrier between the blasting/painting area and the rest of the factory has been essential in maintaining a safe and clean environment.

The installation was carried out efficiently, despite the tight spaces, and we were impressed by the professionalism and expertise of the team. We would certainly rely on their services again for future projects.

FAQ

Why were shrink wrap construction screens needed at Premier Marinas?

Blasting and painting were taking place in the same factory as other activities, creating a risk of dust, paint overspray and debris reaching clean work areas. Shrink wrap construction screens provided a secure internal barrier that separated the blasting and painting bay from the rest of the facility, improving safety and cleanliness.

How were the screens installed in a tight factory environment?

The screens were fixed to the building’s steel frame using scissor lifts to reach the required height. Careful planning was needed to manoeuvre the lifts in tight spaces and to identify secure anchoring points so the shrink wrap could be installed safely and remain stable once the factory was back to full operation.

Did the installation disrupt day-to-day operations?

The installation was carried out in phases so the factory could continue operating. By planning access and working around live activities, EcoShrink was able to install the screens within the required timeframe while keeping disruption and safety risks to a minimum.
