EcoShrink supplied shrink wrap protection for modular buildings for Elkins Construction at the Halsbrook Development in Greenwich. Heavy-duty, customfitted covers protected 30 modular homes during road transport and handling, reducing the risk of weather damage, dirt and impact while keeping the build programme on track.

Project Overview
Elkins Construction, a leading modular home developer, needed to move dozens of high-value modular homes from factory to the Halsbrook Development in Greenwich. The units had to arrive clean, dry and undamaged despite exposure to wind, rain, road debris and handling risks. Loose sheeting and tarpaulins would not give the same level of control or presentation. EcoShrink provided heavy-duty, shrink-wrapped modular building covers that turned each module into a sealed “package”, helping protect finishes and reduce the risk of delays or snags linked to transport damage.
Challenges on programme
Transporting high-value modular homes over public roads in variable weather Risk of water ingress, staining and impact damage from wind, rain and road debris Need to protect external finishes and interfaces before final installation Tight schedule: 30 modules to be wrapped quickly without slowing the wider programme Requirement for a tidy, professional appearance on arrival at the Halsbrook Development.
Our solution
EcoShrink proposed a shrink wrap modular building cover solution built around heavy-duty film and a repeatable wrapping method.
Scope & planning
Assessed each modular home’s dimensions, lifting points and likely exposure during transit Identified edges and corners at higher risk of scuffing or impact in handling Agreed the sequence so 30 units could be wrapped in just four days, aligned with the client’s schedule
Custom-fitted shrink wrap covers
Applied heavy-duty shrink wrap to each module, cut and fitted to its shape Used heat to shrink and tension the film, creating a snug, weather-resistant encapsulation Heat-sealed joints to remove gaps where water, dirt or debris could get in Ensured lifting and securing points remained accessible so units could still be moved safely.
Transport-focused protection
Designed covers to withstand strong winds, rain and airborne debris at speed Supported the client’s need for reliable, repeatable protection that could be scaled to future modular deliveries Handed over handling and reseal guidance so the covers could be checked and maintained through transport and site movements
Results
All 30 modular homes were wrapped within four days, aligning with the development schedule and helping avoid delays. Custom-fitted covers reduced exposure to adverse weather and road debris, with modules arriving on-site intact and free from damage Reduced risk of repair or rework linked to transport damage, supporting cost and programme certainty for Elkins Construction. A more consistent, tidy appearance on arrival, supporting client presentation and homeowner confidence. A scalable modular protection method now available for similar modular projects, from small schemes to full roll-outs.
FAQ
Why did Elkins Construction choose shrink wrap for modular buildings on this project?
Transporting high-value modular homes to the Halsbrook Development meant exposure to wind, rain and road debris. Shrink wrap modular covers offered a tighter, more reliable seal than loose sheeting or tarpaulins, helping keep external finishes clean and dry and reducing the risk of transit-related snags or rework.
How long did it take to wrap the 30 modular homes?
EcoShrink wrapped all 30 modular homes in just four days. The work was programmed around the developer’s schedule so that protection could be applied without disrupting production or delivery dates.
Can this modular wrap method be used on other sites and projects?
Yes. The method used for Elkins Construction is scalable. Once typical module sizes, lifting points and routes are known, the same shrink wrap approach can be applied to other modular schemes, from one-off deliveries to full UK-wide roll-outs.
